Location: Hybrid schedule: 40% in-office (Atlanta), 60% remote. In-person attendance required for team and leadership meetings. Travel to multiple clinic locations within the Atlanta area

The Director of Business Development at Peachtree Orthopedics will lead the strategic development and optimization of revenue-generating initiatives to enhance market position and drive sustainable growth. This role bridges the gap between clinical operations and business strategy, ensuring that business development activities effectively support practice expansion and value-based care initiatives. The position oversees physician marketing, physician liaison programs, community outreach, outreach athletic training services, and direct-to-employer development programs.

This role requires an individual with deep expertise in healthcare business development, strong leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of orthopedic practice operations. A comprehensive knowledge of value-based care models and direct-to-employer contracting is essential.    

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee physician liaison team to optimize referral relationships and revenue growth
  • Direct community outreach programs and high school partnerships for sports medicine services
  • Manage strategic staffing and funding of athletic trainer programs
  • Drive direct-to-employer contracting initiatives and establish Center of Excellence positioning for value-based musculoskeletal care

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead physician marketing and direct marketing initiatives to attract new physicians and enhance relationships with existing providers.
  • Develop and execute strategies to grow referral networks, optimize physician relationships, and increase market share through targeted outreach.
  • Oversee physician liaison team performance, ensuring effective relationship building and measurable referral growth.
  • Direct community outreach programs and establish strategic partnerships with local high schools for sports medicine and preventive care services.
  • Manage outreach athletic trainer program development including strategic staffing, funding models, and contract negotiations with educational institutions.
  • Drive direct-to-employer contracting initiatives focusing on value-based musculoskeletal and orthopedic care solutions.
  • Establish and position practice as regional Center of Excellence for value-based care with comprehensive bundled payment structures.
  • Design and implement shared savings programs and capitated contracts with performance guarantees for employer partners.
  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing to align business development strategies with overall marketing initiatives.
  • Generate and analyze business development metrics to identify growth opportunities and optimize program performance.
  • Create customized proposals and presentations for employer partnerships and direct contracting opportunities. 
  • Develop quality metrics and outcomes reporting systems that demonstrate clinical excellence and cost effectiveness.
  • Negotiate contracts with employers, educational institutions, and community partners to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives with clinical teams to ensure service delivery aligns with business development goals.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • 7-10 years' experience in healthcare business development with demonstrated leadership responsibilities
  • Extensive experience with value-based care contracting, bundled payments, or shared savings programs
  • Strong track record in physician relationship management and referral network development
  • Experience with direct-pay healthcare contracting and employer partnerships
  • Expertise in sports medicine business development and outreach athletic training program management
Supervisory Responsibilities
Provide direct supervision and leadership to multiple business development teams including Physician Liaison team, Community Outreach coordinators, and Outreach Athletic Training program staff.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; mentoring and developing staff; setting performance goals; conducting regular evaluations; managing team workload and project assignments; coordinating cross-functional initiatives; ensuring team alignment with organizational objectives; fostering a culture of continuous improvement; and developing and managing departmental budget and resources.
