Your Impactful Role

  • Assigns, schedules, and reviews the work of medical imaging and related staff to maintain patient flow, achieve production goals, and conform to established protocols and procedures.
  • Confers with medical staff and technologists concerning medical imaging techniques and procedures.
  • Oversees staff in operation of imaging equipment such as x-ray machines, sonography equipment, fluoroscope, CT (computerized tomography) scanner, or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) equipment, evaluates accuracy and quality of images, and provides technical assistance.
  • Demonstrates new techniques, equipment, and procedures to staff.
  • Evaluates training program for medical imaging staff and conducts and arranges for training as appropriate.
  • Designs and supervises training for radiologic students.
  • Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with government regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluates new medical imaging equipment and recommends purchase of capital equipment.
  • Prepares and administers budget for imaging services.
  • Maintain clinical supplies by implementing procedures and meet with vendors to evaluate new products.
  • Coordinates purchase of supplies and equipment and schedule maintenance/repairs.
  • Plans, directs, and monitors quality assurance program to conform to federal, state, local, and hospital regulations and guidelines.
  • Prepares or directs preparation of various qualitative and quantitative reports and records.
  • Consults on work in progress and completed work to assure accuracy.
  • Reviews current literature and attends meetings and seminars to keep informed of new developments in field.
  • Maintain online assessments required by contracted insurance companies and coordinate onsite audits.
  • Offers in-service education to other departments, medical staff, and radiology interns in radiation safety and various radiologic and imaging procedures.
  • Oversee the in-office medication dispensing system by conducting inventory control activities and purchasing.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
PACS ADMINISTRATOR
  • Acts as a EMR (Athena) subject matter expert, assimilating content and conducting additional research to obtain accurate factual background information and authentic detail.
  • Performs configuration and tuning of EMR (Athena) Software.
  • Installs upgrades, patches and fixes of EMR (Athena) Software.
  • Diagnoses and resolves Athena system problems and errors.
  • Provides technical support, training, and troubleshoots software application related issues.
  • Establishes and implements procedures and protocols.
  • Establishes and maintains PACS users/locations.
  • Facilitates initial and ongoing staff training.
  • Facilitates template training for physicians. 
  • Manages system upgrades.
  • Coordinates and troubleshoots with other systems:  SRS, hospital ORs , Centricity , IT.
  • Manages archived images.
  • Evaluates and purchase new equipment.
  • Point person for manufacturer contact.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Manages two Lead Technicians who supervise employees at the two site locations.
  • Is responsible for the direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units, at the direction of the manager.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Radiology/Healthcare.
  • Completion of at least a 2 year accredited Radiologic Technologist Program. 
  • At least 5 years X-ray experience in a fast paced Orthopaedic Practice.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions: The role requires physical activity, including standing, stooping, squatting, walking for extensive periods, and occasional sitting. You'll regularly manipulate X-Ray equipment, physically position patients, and assist patients with disabilities, including pushing and pulling wheelchairs and stretchers. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and use of computers. The role operates in a fast-paced environment caring for patients in pain and with disabilities. The work environment is usually moderate to loud due to the x-ray machines and communications with patients via voice commands and/or phone calls. There may be exposure to body fluids and tissue, with appropriate universal precautions and supplies available for use.
